ABOUT US

   The Air Force Association was first suggested by General "Hap" Arnold, who declared a need for an independent civilian organization to argue the case for military preparedness and the importance of airpower. AFA was incorporated in the District of Columbia on February 4, 1946. The Association's first national president was General Jimmy Doolittle. As such, the AFA is older than the modern U.S. Air Force!

   The AFA's mission is to promote a dominant United States Air Force and a strong national defense, and to honor Airmen and our Air Force Heritage. To accomplish this, we:
     EDUCATE the public on the critical need for unmatched aerospace power.
     ADVOCATE for aerospace power and STEM education.
     SUPPORT the total Air Force family and promote aerospace education.


   First chartered in 1961, Chapter 266 is named in honor of the father of American rocketry, Dr. Robert Hutchings Goddard (Born: 5 October 1882 - Died: 10 August 1945). You may learn more about Dr. Goddard from the following websites:
